Thank you to all of the members of the congregation who have been supportive of the fundraising initiatives over the past year for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. We thank Galten Farms and the Schickedanz family for their support with the 50 acre growing project at the corner of Warden Avenue and Stouffville Road. We were blessed with the yield from this field of soybeans at 54 bushel per acre which was amongst the best in the Markham Stouffville community.
We have received support from our project partner St. John’s United Church in Oakville as well as our Corn Roast and Sharecropper Dinner events in the fall. At this point our level of support is below last year and we hope that members who still have some funds available will make a donation to the project. Remember that every dollar that we contribute will be multiplied four times by the Government of Canada as our donation flows through our own Canadian Lutheran World Relief to meet the hunger needs around the world. Donations should be placed on the offering plate or mailed to the church but clearly identified as for the Sharecropper Project. Any cheques should be made out to Bethesda Lutheran Church. Thank you.
