Corn Roast and Campfire a Success

Categories: Events,Our Programs,Sharecropper,Stories

Our Corn Roast and Campfire was a great success.  The weather was wonderful, and the food plentiful and delicious, the entertainment enjoyable and the fellowship great.  The event was postponed from the scheduled date of Saturday, September 10 because of bad weather predicted, to Sunday September 18 at 4:00 pm.  The attendance was approximately eighty with about thirty coming from St. Paul.

This event is part of our fund-raising activity for the Sharecropper project.  Donations to the project from the event amounted to just over $1200.

Special thanks go out to all who worked toward making this event successful. Among those whom we would like to acknowledge are Lorne and Carol Smith for hosting and providing much of the food for the BBQ, Wilhelm and Roswitha von Seefried for donating all the buns, Ella Matthiessen for providing the corn, Shareef Isa for adding some spirit to the event and Chris Yanssen for leading the sing-along with his guitar together with Dave Smith and Pastor Roy.  Of course, a big thank you goes to all who attended and brought along desserts and salads.
