I greet you in the name of our risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The angel greeted the women who went to anoint the body of Jesus with the message, “He has risen; he is not here.” The message of Easter is particularly pertinent and meaningful for us in these difficult and challenging times of the pandemic. This is the second Easter we are not able to gather to celebrate the glorious resurrection of our Lord with worship and fellowship. Most other things in our lives have been disrupted or changed by the pandemic. Many are hurting. Many are confused. Questions abound in minds. People are hoping for an end to the situation sooner rather than later. All are longing for a new day.
On the first Easter God ushered in a new day. Easter is God’s victory over all that seek to negate life. It is undeniable that there are still many bad and evil things all around us. The bad and evil linger for a while. They even seem to be victorious. The truth is they never win in the end. Always God and good win the victory. On Good Friday evil seemed to have won the victory. Then came the resurrection of Jesus on Easter morning that signaled God’s victory over sin, death and the devil.
God is in the midst of all we are going through in the pandemic and life generally. Let the message of Easter strengthen your heart, encourage your soul and fortify your spirit. May its joy and hope fill you with peace.
He is risen….
