Bethesda’s quilting group has shipped off fifteen quilts to Canadian Lutheran World Relief. The quilts, along with others collected by CLWR from quilting groups in the ELCIC, will be shipped to various parts of the world where they will be used. These quilts can be found in refugee camps, conflict- ridden locations, remote villages, and other places where they provide warmth and comfort to thousands of people.
Bethesda’s quilters have been making beautiful quilts for many years now. This present group was started by Myrtle Foell more than seven years ago. Ever since then the group has been shipping off quilts to CLWR every year. The group has also made it possible for members of the congregation to own and enjoy their quilts. Every year the group makes available a couple of quilts to be raffled. As a result many member have won quilts.
At present two quilts are being raffled. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and can be purchased from members of the quilting group. The draw will be held at the Women’s Fellowship Meeting on Tuesday June 26, when the Women’s Group will close off for the summer with a social. The raffle is part of the garage sale activity, the proceeds of which goes to the Capital Replacement Fund. Members are encouraged to generously support the raffle and at the same time have a chance to win a beautiful quilt.
