Ask Pastor Evening

Categories: Events,Our Programs

We recognize that many people are experiencing anxiety and confusion about the role of God and our church during these turbulent times. Issues of concern include Global warming and the environment, Residential School situation, increasing anger and division along racial, social, economic and political lines, and between those who support vaccination and those who remain unvaccinated for a variety of reasons. The Worship and Music Committee, and Visioning Committee, have organized a first session to start to address these concerns.

Please set aside the evening of Sunday, January 23 from 7:00-8:00 for a presentation led by Pastor Roy about God and the church in a COVID-19 world.
Questions to be addressed include:
• Why is the world being inflicted with COVID-19?
• Why are innocent people getting sick and dying from COVID-19?
• Why is there injustice in the world where poor countries don’t have the access and resources to get vaccines?
• What is the Canadian Lutheran Church position about Covid19 and what are they doing?
• What can we do as Christians to make a Covid19 world better?

The presentation will be made via a Zoom Meeting, similar to the Sunday evening virtual coffee hour Zoom meetings we have been having. The link to join the meeting will be emailed to the congregation.

After Pastor Roy’s presentation, there will be an opportunity to seek clarification or ask other related questions.

We know that many people have experienced anxiety about living in a COVID-19 world and wonder about where God is and what our church is doing to help. This presentation will address this issue. We hope that you are able to attend the presentation and follow-up discussion.

We also know that the issues we have are often shared among a great number of people. If there are issues/questions/concerns you have that could become the focus of another “Ask Pastor” session please email Pastor Roy, David Smith or John Keiper so that we can plan another presentation.
